Jon at Redhill

Redhill 20/03/16

Well today I had my first visit to Redhill fishery and I must say what a great fishery it is, first thing on the agenda was to sample a large famous breakfast and to be fair it was the best breakfast I've ever had and for £6 it was massive, so with that eaten I wobbled over to Steve and helped him to do the draw, having done that my peg was 5 on penny's, so I decided that I was going to attack the peg so out came a bag of new Sonubaits maggot groundbait as my aim was to catch anything that swims, 2mm pellets were added and F1 corn, 4mm pellets and Red maggots were also on the tray, match starts and I was told not to feed heavy as they only use little pots so with this in mind I did the complete opposite.

While I was setting up I'd noticed a few fish on the move and being quite active and with it being a few degrees warmer I put in 2 big balls of groundbait at 14.5m and 2 more on the 8m line then fed 4mm pellets over the 14.5m with a little F1 corn and Pellets and maggots over the 8m line, started on tip out in the middle but with the odd liner I just did not think it would work so 8m it was and straight away a steady run of skimmers but with each side catching carp I needed some myself so a switch to 14.5m and F1 corn on the hook saw a bite straight away and a small carp followed by a few more with the key being lift and drop method, catching steady throughout the match and topping up the groundbait when needed the all out was minutes away and basically had a 5lber in the net as the all out was shouted.

Scales came round and I managed 54lb something and the Lake win, happy with that so back to the food station to sample chicken curry n chips which topped the day off, massive thanks to Steve Allen and and everyone at Redhill, there support for match-aid was fantastic and there donation of golden peg money and raffle money was much appreciated and to everyone else who fished today and parents for bring the juniors without you match-aid would not be able to do what they intend to do which is bring new juniors to the sport which is definitely needed.
Thankyou from all at www.match-aid.org.uk
